Inline with the scheduled ward congress activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, the State Chief of Protocol to the Executive Governor of Cross River State Mr Emmanuel Effiong Asikpo Okon, hosts the newly selected All Progressives Congress (APC) ward executives of his political ward, Ward-11, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Speaking at the special meeting, Mr Emmanuel Asikpo in his opening remark thanked all the ward stakeholders for making out time in their various busy schedules to attend the meeting and congratulated the newly selected executives on their new marriage, explaining that his absence was due to the expediency of his office not withstanding, he had related timely with the stakeholders and was satisfied with the peaceful, fair and successful selection process.
He also stressed that whoever emerged as ward-11 executive member in Calabar South LGA was the will of God, having carried out a transparent selection by the stakeholders without rancour and inline with the directives of the Governor during the state stakeholders meeting at the Peregrino hall. Mr Emmanuel charged other aspirants who could not emerge to accept their fate, support the selected excos to enhance the party system, adding that there is no old or new member, as everyone is a unified party faithful.
Also speaking, the selected ward-11 Chairman Elder Abia Inyang urged all to leave acrimony and embrace oneness, with all hands on deck being that old things have passed away after the contest. Elder Abia appreciated the Elders, stakeholders, his co-contestants and Mr Victor Nsa who spurred him to express his intention after several tussles and disagreement during old days. In addition, the Caretaker Chapter Chairman Mr Victor Nsa, lauded the State Chief of Protocol Mr Emmanuel Asikpo, ward-11 Elders and most especially His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade who made it possible for the state at large. The Vice Chairman, Calabar South LGA Hon. Chief Robert Hogan expressed gratitude to God for making the gathering possible. He commended the convener’s goodwill towards ward-11 stakeholders, adding that ward-11 has benefitted immensely from Governor Ayade’s administration in appointments and also appealed to those who are yet to defect, to please do the needful.
The Caretaker ward chairman Prince Charles Etim in his words, charged the newly selected ward chairman “Elder Abia Inyang” to be steadfast and keep to his words while Hon. Asuquo Ekpenyong the Leader of Calabar South Legislature and Councilor ward-11, called on the newly selected ward Chairman Elder Abia Inyang and the entire executives, to ensure a transparent affairs against all odds considering the voting strength of ward-11 during electoral period and come 2023. Mrs Awatt in her own contribution, poured encomiums on the Elders for a successful process that has birthed the new selected executives. Pst. Ene Cobham lauded Mr Emmanuel Asikpo and further emphasized on the need for positive political strategies by the selected excos, as they are vested with serious responsibilities towards good success. He also thanked Governor Ben Ayade for taking bold steps to socket at the center.
Amidst refreshment with assorted drinks and food, The state APC Leader Mr Eteyen Umanah a.k.a king of the boys, sued for peace and love, seeing that everyone is together this time unlike 2015 & 2019 were he had to struggle with the powers that be as at then during elections.
The former APC State Secretary, His Lordship Bishop Victor Ebong, gave kudos to Mr Emmanuel Asikpo for his kind heart, humility and being the first to host his ward executives in the entire state. He also stressed that teaching the people how to fish is necessary as quality legacy is key for a continuous relationship with his political ward after appointment. He urged the selected ward executives to write positive political history that will yield relevance, as a call to lead is a call to serve hence, they should be quick to hear but very slow to speak. Bishop Victor again, beckoned on all agrieved persons to please forgive and let love reign for a more viable APC, adding that ward-11 is the best ward in Cross River.
Barr Etim Inyang an elder statesman in Calabar South LGA and one of the invited guests, thanked his friend Mr Emmanuel Asikpo for linking up with his political ward despite his high position. Barr Etim lamented the ill-nature of some politicians and informed that politics requires honesty thus as leaders, there’s need to change the narrative positively for development and success to thrive. The State Chief of Protocol in response, having listened to all the accolades poured on him by the elders, stated that it is not that easy to conduct a successful selection without chaos. He further expressed gratitude to everyone for the love and audience and prayed that his widow’s mite be appreciated beyond silver and gold.
The special meeting convened by Mr Emmanuel Asikpo, had in attendance, the selected ward-11 chairman Elder Abia Inyang and his executives, the Caretaker ward-11 Chairman Prince Charles Etim, the Caretaker Chapter Chairman Mr Victor Nsa, the Hon. Asuquo Ekpenyong, the former APC State Secretary Bishop Victor Ebong, the State APC Elder Mr Eteyen Umanah, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Climate change and Forestry Mr Felix Ita Ekpenyong, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, APC Stakeholders in ward-11 of Calabar South LGA and Appointees of government at both State and Local government level.
